The last portrait of mine in the collection! This one is heavily inspired by Self-Portrait with Portrait of Émile Bernard (Les misérables) by Paul Gauguin because of the meaning behind the composition. With Squidward placed all the way to the left of the portrait instead of the center, its goal is to capture how lonely & miserable he really is. Post-Impressionist pieces were all about the expression or emotion behind it, so to convey those feelings of misery better, I opted to stray away from natural colors & lighting & instead used more contrasting colors to depict how blue (literally & metaphorically) Squidward is in comparison to the rest of the world.
