Portrait no.4

For this specific art piece, I decided to make it a group portrait depicting Squidward along with the rest of the Krusty Krab workers, as group portraits depicting all the employees of an establishment was common during the Dutch Baroque period. Another Baroque characteristic I attempted to capture was chiaroscuro, which is basically the contrast between light & dark. I utilized this technique by making elements of the background nearly pitch black while the characters in the foreground are more highlighted so the viewer’s focus is on them more than the background itself. To explain why this is more of a group portrait than a genre scene, its purpose is to capture the personality of each of the figures in this working space & not any specific scene.
